RIDDLEX GAMES FAQ WHAT GAMES WILL I FIND HERE? These are mental puzzle games, often called riddles. They consist of a series of levels that you progress through, with the goal of completing the game. At heart you are a detective - you need to seek out the clues, then find the answer. Most of the games are themed, for example the Sherlock Holmes games have a mystery story running through them, a case for you to investigate and solve. DO I HAVE TO BE SUPER SMART TO PLAY THESE GAMES? No! They require logical and lateral thinking, observation, and sometimes a little research. But they are solveable by anyone who uses their mind and their wits. DO I NEED TO DOWNLOAD ANY SOFTWARE? Almost certainly not. Some of the games use Flash or Javascript, but you probably already have that on your computer. Some of the games require sound (you will be advised at the start of the game). ARE THE GAMES PLAYABLE ON A MAC OR CELLPHONE? The games are Mac friendly. There isn't a specific cellphone version but you should be able to play them on handheld devices. HOW DO I SOLVE THE PUZZLES? At heart these games are logic puzzles. The visual, audio and textual clues (and sometimes a hidden clue!) will lead you to the answer. You may need to research information using online tools such as the Wikipedia and Google. IS THERE AN AUTOSAVE FEATURE? Unfortunately no. Our software development tools do not include that option yet. We suggest you make a bookmark (Firefox) or add to favorites (Internet Explorer) the level you are working on if you take a break from the game. Then when you return, you can go straight back to the level you left at. WHAT IF I GET STUCK? 1. Take a break, a fresh pair of eyes seems to work wonders at spotting something you missed before. 2. Go through all the information logically and systematically, think "out of the box", look for hidden clues. 3. If all else fails, visit our Hints forum and view the thread on the level you are stuck in. HOW HARD ARE YOUR GAMES? Our games range in difficulty, though difficulty is a very subjective term, you can spot an answer quickly that other players struggle with, and vice versa. We aim to cater for all difficulty levels - easier puzzles for the occassional puzzler, and tougher ones for the more "hardcore" riddler. ARE THERE ANY PRIZES OR A HALL OF FAME? No. Our games are for the pure enjoyment and challenge of playing them, and the personal satisfaction of solving them. DO I HAVE TO REGISTER TO PLAY THE GAMES? No, just click the link to the game and play! We only require registration to access the Hints Forum, but that is purely to help prevent spamming. HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO PLAY YOUR GAMES? Nothing. All our games are free to play. WILL I BE BOMBARDED BY ADVERTISING? No, absolutely not! Our site contains no distracting advertising pop-ups or animations. WHICH GAME SHOULD I PLAY FIRST? If you are a newcomer to playing riddles then Carnival of Curios, or Haunted Hall, are a good place to start. |
